D700 Vs D800. You sometimes get the feeling that most NR members take all their shots in the space between the capability of the D700 and D800 - I dont. The focus motor moves the lens in order to autofocus. The difference makes the D800 images slightly softer but this is difficult to see without magnification beyond a normal print. On the other hand Nikon D800 has a 360MP Full frame 359 x 24 mm sized CMOS sensor and features Expeed 3 processor.
But I admit that I hardly ever use my D700 after getting the D800. By sharpening more aggressively you can take a typical image with the D800 and achieve a level of sharpness that is hard to distinguish from the D800E. Overall we should be getting around a full stop of advantage noise-wise with the D800 compared to the D700. For system cameras having a focus motor in the cameras body allows you to use a wide range of lenses including lenses which do not have their own focus motor. Is 36mp really better than 12mp.
