A couple of additional observations which overlap with some of what has been said. At the same resolution a 12MP image could be printed at 367in x 20in. I mainly want for in-door videorecording lectures and etc uploaded on Youtube. You have to consider area so twice the resolution of 12mp is 48mp. The choice of lens depends on the size of the item. The first issue is that 24mp is not twice the resolution of 12mp.
Thats not how resolution is. 6172014 A camera with 24 megapixels has twices as many pixels as a camera with 12 MP.
